Thank you, Andy and the writers of this song. This song came out around the same time as Tim McGraw's similarly themed "Live Like You Were Dying" but I always found this one vastly superior, with far more poetic lyrics and a more memorable melodic hook.
This song was a hit, but not immortalized as one of the best songs of the last decade as it should have been. That's a shame. I heard this song within hours of my mother's death in Guess this song is just a song that makes me cry and remember my family every time I hear it! Great song by a great artist! I listen to this song every single day!!!
What a great song. I can't believe I don't hear more of this on the radio.. But this part really gets me in the feels! RIP to those that have gone before us! Soon we'll all be going home. The words remind me of my hometown that I had to leave when I was 9.
Nice words and lots of imagery. All artists connected to this beautiful piece of musical art are Awesomely talented!!! Listen to this song many times as I traveled to visit my dad in TN. Having my wife know, that I want this song played at my funeral today.
This was my Pepaws absolute favorite song. I remember it coming out and not long after we had to play it at his funeral. It majorly sucked. I was 8 yrs old. He died doing what every country man liked doing, hunting. God took him in November of during deer season. When they found him, he had a smile on his face and his rifle and deer next to him with mine and my grandmothers picture in his hand. He is the greatest man to ever live and I miss him more n more every year.
And I wish he was around to know his first great grandbaby who is born to his first granddaughter. Miss you Pepaw. And yes I know, the pumpkin wagon is coming for me. My life is full of sadness. This song has helped me through it all. Life can be hard to deal with at times and we must all pull together and have each other's backs instead of hurting one another. Great song I remember when this came out as I get older having gets sweeter and sweeter because more and more of my family and friends are there now and I look forward to that day whenever the good Lord calls me home and I am reunited with all of them once again n Heaven.
This song brings tears to my eyes The vocals are so smooth and strong. I could listen all day long. Great song man!! Loved it when it first came out and it has never faded!!
Yesterday on We played this at her Funeral and everyone said it was such a perfect Song. Lord Bless everyone who has lost a Loved one. Savannah Rae I hope you showed up fashionably late to the heaven doors like you always do.
Impossible to truly listen to this song without tears coming to my eyes. A beautiful reminder of sweet memories and moments with people and places we've loved and missed that evoke images of what heaven must surely be like, truly a place where the One who loves us the most will make clear what we can only now see through darkened glass. When I die, I want this played at my funeral.
It may be way out dated by then, but it's a great song. For those of us who have truly loved and lost, this is the song for you. Always loved this song but I lost my dad a few days ago and it suddenly is even more beautiful. Damn Andy!! One of the Greatest songs of all time!!
It makes me go way back in time in my mind with special memories of family and friends that have gone on before me!! Thank you!!! December 31, , my son, Brayden, passed away, he was 8 yrs old. He is an Angel! We put this song in his memorial service and it was extremely moving. There was a pic of him and his Grandpa with a cherry pie with this song. It made everyone tear up. I thank Andy Griggs for this song and the Lord for giving Brayden to us regardless of his disabilities or medical issues.
Down's babies are the MOST loving babies They sure are precious gifts from God Himself. Rest in blessed peace to your sweet Brayden. If Heaven was a town, it would be my town. My dad, brother and alot of friends I've lost though the years. I don't know how much longer my journey on Earth remain but what a great day that will be when I get home to see my Lord and savior and surrounded by the people that I love knowing that I will never lose them again.
I miss my family, my kids when they were little and my life when I was a young man. My first son was born in Wonderful memories. I pray God will let me go back to that time after this life. Brings back Memories Grandpa Bob "the greatest man whom ever walked" I love you and miss you. I cant stop crying every time I watch this It feels good to hold but so sad to continue..
Life's ups and downs can sometimes take a toll on all of us just remember to share the good times with your loved ones and let them know how much they are loved before it's too late.
We all must get along with each other life is too short. Beautiful song. I'm totally looking forward to heaven.. We played this at my sons funeral Thank you Andy Griggs for being his friend. Thank you. This is my dad's song. It was played at his funeral and he meant every word of it you spoke. I mean, sang. It means the world to me. My mom passed away on February 25th, from colon cancer that spread to her liver, lungs and stomach.
You were there for me when I needed to be corrected, you were there for me when my relationships broke up and you were there for me to give me advice on life and how to stand on my own two feet and be the man you raised me to be. You have been the one constant thing that loved me unconditionally with no strings attached and let me make mistakes so that those same mistakes would make me stronger and wiser.
Thank you for raising me to be the man I am today. Mama, we didn't have much money or material things but we sure had a lot of love to go around. I promise I will see you again one day, until then enjoy the splendors of heaven and say hello to Uncle Lee for me and the rest of the family that is there with you in heaven. Love you mama, Bye Bye for now. I hear telling me all the time it's going to be OK. I love you grandma, I'll see ya soon. The Final level of Attainment is Acceptance. Damn Gretchen!!

One of my favorites its been over 7 years since it was first played on the radio I love this song I lost my dad 8 months ago I would give anything to see him again I hope he's in a place that Andy is singing about.
Eleven years ago today, I buried my beloved wife. She was sweet like cherry pie, when she was still alive The best singer there is out there,it's great when he sings it live also. This song takes me down memory lane! I love it!! I think of all of my family and friends that have gone ahead of me.
My mother passed away a week ago. So wonderful! I picture my mother in his heaven, together with my father and little brother who passed away some years ago.
This aobf makes me think of someone I lost in 99 he will always hold a special place in my heart. Almost one year ago I lost my older brother to a tragic accident. Not one day that goes by I don't miss them. It still hurts because I see my nieces everyday. What a beautiful song it reminded me of my mom she loved to cook and have all kid and grandchildren over we did have much but appreciate what we had. Such a beautiful song. I first heard it in after my sister died.
Now it reminds me of her, my dad, my mom, and my dear husband. Missing my family today and everyday. I've been looking for this song since I heard it on the radio when it was new. Just found it. We lost my sister Andrea in the fall of My Mother in Law will always be remembered by this song, Diane I'm very thankful I had you in my corner. I love your daughter with all my heart and I'm very thankful we crossed paths in life.
Love ya and you are missed very much. Thank you for the talks with Trace in our hard times. I was at my friend Ron Jones' Charley Pride house one night charting one of my songs, drinking some Guinness and checking out music videos on Youtube when he sprung this one on me. He said, "watch this one. He told me that it always got to him and I knew why now too. Get promoted. Powered by OnRad.
